The Duet at a glance
The Duet puts two full-size family homes under one simple roof. Each home has its own front door, its own rear yard and its own parking. The main floor runs open from front to back: living room at the street, dining in the middle and an L-shaped kitchen at the rear, with a powder room, utility room and under-stair storage. A rear entry comes in from the yard and parking. Upstairs, the king-size primary suite has a walk-in closet, a private ensuite and a study alcove. Two queen bedrooms share a full bath, and the laundry room sits on the bedroom floor. The second home is an exact mirror. Charcoal siding, a light lower front and warm wood at the entries and rear give the building a clean, modern look. Site layout, the separation wall between homes and finish selections are developed for each project.

How it's built
The Duet, built with panelized construction
MBS builds The Duet from factory-made wall panels, floor cassettes and roof panels, CNC-cut in our St. Louis plant to the approved drawings. Panels ship flat and are set on a conventional foundation. The finished home is wood framing, not a modular box or a manufactured home, with a 50% quicker construction schedule.

About 1,863 sq ft per home, or 3,726 sq ft for the whole duplex. Each home is 960 sq ft on the main floor plus 960 sq ft upstairs, less the 57 sq ft stair opening. Areas include planning walls and count the stair once. Yards, patios and parking are additional. These are concept gross areas, not certified net, heated or appraisal areas.
