BUILDING THE SKILLED TRADES INDUSTRY

Workforce Training for the Future of Construction in St. Louis and the Midwest.

Module Building Systems (MBS) trains St. Louis residents for careers in panelized offsite construction and advanced CNC manufacturing. We build our skilled workforce through partnerships with Ranken Technical College and SLATE, the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment.

Our goal is direct. Create good jobs in St. Louis and give local talent a real path into a growing industry. And these are careers. Every full-time MBS role comes with a living wage, full health benefits, paid sick leave, paid vacation, and maternity leave.

A Better Way to Build for Tomorrow starts with the people who build it.

Why Construction Workforce Training Matters Now

The construction industry must attract an estimated 349,000 net new workers in 2026 to meet demand, according to Associated Builders and Contractors. About one in five construction workers is nearing retirement, and too few young people are entering the trades. At the same time, offsite construction made up only about 3% of single-family homes completed in 2024. The need is urgent and the room to grow is enormous.

MBS sits at the center of that opportunity. Our panelized system moves most of the build indoors, into a controlled 40,000 square foot CNC manufacturing facility in North St. Louis. That shift creates a new kind of construction job. Cleaner. Safer. Year-round. Tech-forward. It also opens the door to workers who were never offered a way in before.

Our Partnership With Ranken Technical College

MBS partners with Ranken Technical College, one of the largest and oldest technical colleges in the St. Louis region. Founded in 1907, Ranken has trained St. Louis students in manufacturing, construction, and advanced technical fields for more than a century.

Through this partnership, Ranken students gain hands-on experience with MBS technology and processes. They learn on real panelized construction and advanced manufacturing work, not just in a classroom. This builds the exact skills the modern construction industry needs and creates a direct pipeline into MBS careers.

The collaboration also reaches into the community. MBS has worked alongside Ranken Community Development Corporation (RCDC), Ranken's nonprofit development arm founded in 1994 to pair student trade training with affordable single-family housing in North St. Louis. That work gives students real project experience while delivering homes the community needs.

Our Partnership With SLATE, the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment

MBS is a proud partner of SLATE, the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment, as a workforce training provider. SLATE is the City of St. Louis government workforce agency and American Job Center. It connects St. Louis residents to job training, career services, and employment at no cost, and it helps employers recruit and train skilled workers.

SLATE has served St. Louis for 50 years, with construction and the skilled trades as a cornerstone of its work. Through this partnership, MBS aims to connect more St. Louis residents to training and career opportunities in offsite construction and advanced manufacturing, with a focus on North St. Louis and communities that have been left out for too long.

The mission is shared. Put local people to work. Build skills that last. Strengthen the St. Louis workforce.
